Webcast Help

Windows Media Player
You will need Windows Media Player 6.4 or above for the video to play. If your computer does not have this installed please download it for free from http://www.windowsmedia.com/download.

Browser
You will need Internet Explorer 6 or above to view the web pages for this event. If you need to install it, you can download it free from http://www.microsoft.com/ie/.

Hardware
You will obviously also need a sound card and speakers. Most PC's have this capability. If you are unsure, please ask your system administrator.

Display
You will need a screen size of at least 800 x 600. If you have not, you can reset this by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting properties. This will open "Display Properties". Go to the "Settings" tab and move the slider in the bottom right along to the right to 800 x 600.

Firewalls
If you are on a corporate LAN, you will most likely be behind a firewall (a device which forbids certain traffic from entering the network). Usually this is not a problem as our software can send the audio the same way that web pages are delivered however some companies prefer to block this from happening. In short, you need to configure Windows Media Player to allow access over HTTP. If you are experiencing problems related to this, please contact your system administrator. Feel free to pass on our details to them so we can help troubleshoot the problems.

Projecting onto a large screen
If you would like to project the video screen, right click on video window and click zoom for full screen size.

Firefox
In order to get Firefox to work correctly the user needs to have the Active X plug-in installed. The process for doing this is detailed on this page. On this page is a section called ActiveX plugin where it gives full instructions of how to install. On completion of ths install it is necessary to re-start your machine. If it has been successfully installed typing about:plugins into the address bar will list the plug-ins including an entry for Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin support.

MACs
Download Microsoft Media Player for MAC Install it. Go into the preferences of Windows Media Player and under Connection change the Speed value to LAN. (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT ON 56k DIAL-UP) Extra for an Intel based MAC:
1. Close all browser instances.
